Half-Life (1998)

Ni game 10 tahun dulu. Kalau waktu dier mula2 kluar aku terus main, aku rasa aku akan bagi 5/5. Tapi waktu tu aku macam baru form 4, aku takde komputer sendiri nak main game-game single player nih. Duduk plak kat asrama so kalo nak main komputer kena tgu hujung mgu, pastu kluar ramai2 pgi CC, main CS. Sekarang ni aku tgh tgu Black Mesa mod.

Half-Life 2 (2004)

Aku x brapa suka sci-fi, tapi yg ni best. Game ni banyak experience - macam2 experience ada. Takut, konfius (sbb kena solve puzzle), rasa best (naik buggy & boat), firefight dgn ada member backup, malah rasa gayat pun ada! Memang best!

Call of Duty 4 (2007)

Agak pendek tapi intense giler! Banyak giler babak-babak yg best & x bleh luper! Video intro juga terbaek skali!

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (2005)

More games should be made like this one, sbb dier ada single-player, ada co-op, dan ada multiplayer versus. Aku dah khatam single-player dan co-op (aku main dgn adik aku). Tiga-tiga ada "feel" yg berbeza-beza & bagi unique experience.

Diablo 2 + Lord of Desruction (2000,2001)

Aku bagi 4/5 sbb story dier x bleh bla. Dier ni jahat, bunuh. Dier tu jahat, bunuh. Kutip ni, kutip tu, pulangkan. Bunuh Diablo, Bunuh Baal. Buat la storyline hebat macam Baldur's Gate 2 skit: banyak konflik, politik, drama, decision-making, role-playing. Kan lagi best? Macamanapun, game ni mmg addictive.

SWAT 4 + TSS (2005,2006)

Loading time lama sangat! Otherwise, great co-op realistic tactical shooter. Tak banyak game yg mission-oriented, team-based, thinking shooter yg camni. Otai skit dari Raven Shield (RvS) sbb lebih "believable": maps realistic (bukan kat kilang dsb), boleh arrest suspects dsb.

SWAT 3 (1999)

Best. Orang yg buat SWAT 3 dibantu oleh real-world SWAT. Tutorial dan videos dalam SWAT 3 amat berguna, dan A.I. SWAT team kita menggunakan tactics sebenar SWAT (yg amat helpful). Malang skali banyak elemen dalam SWAT 3 yg best-best have been omitted or ignored in SWAT 4.

The Treasure

The cheerful girl with bouncy golden curls was almost five. Waiting with her mother at the checkout stand, she saw them, a circle of glistening white pearls in a pink foil box.

“Oh, please, mommy, can I have them? Can I have them? Please, please, mommy?”

Quickly, the mother checked the back of the little foil box and then looked back into the pleading blue eyes of her little girl’s upturned face.

“A dollar and ninety-five cents. That’s almost two dollars. If you really want them, in no time you can save enough to buy them for yourself. Your birthday is only a week away and you might get another crisp dollar bill from Grandma.”

As soon as Jenny got home, she emptied her penny box and counted out seventeen pennies. After dinner, she did more than her share of chores and went to the neighbor’s house and asked Mrs. McJames if she could pick dandelions for ten cents. On her birthday, Grandma did give her another new dollar bill and, at last, she had enough money to buy the necklace.

Jenny loved her pearls. They made her feel dressed up and grown up. She wore them everywhere, even to bed. The only time she took them off was when she was swimming or had a bubble bath. Mother had said if they got wet, they might turn the back of her neck green.

Jenny had a very loving daddy and every night when she went to bed, he would stop whatever he was doing and come upstairs to read her a story. One night when he had finished the story, he asked Jenny.

“Do you love me?”

“Oh, yes, Daddy, you know I love you.”

“Then give me your pearls.”

“Oh, Daddy, not my pearls, but you can have Princess, the white horse, from my collection. The one with the pink tail, remember, Daddy? The one you gave me. She is my favorite.”

“That’s Okay, honey.”

He brushed her cheek with a kiss.

About a week later, after the story, Jenny’s daddy asked again.

“Do you love me?”

“Daddy, you know I love you.”

“Then give me your pearls.”

“Oh, daddy, not my pearls, but you can have my baby doll and you can have the yellow blanket that matches her sleeper.”

“That’s Okay, sleep well, God bless you, little one. Daddy loves you.”

And as always, he brushed her cheek with a gentle kiss.

A few nights later when he came in, Jenny was sitting on her bed with her legs crossed in Indian style. As he came close, he noticed her chin was trembling and one silent tear ran down her cheek.

“What is it?”

Jenny didn’t say anything, but lifted her little hand up to her father and when she opened it, there was her pearl necklace. With a little quiver, she finally said,

“Here, Daddy, it’s for you.”

With tears gathering in his own eyes, Jenny’s kind daddy reached out with one hand to take the dime store necklace and with other hand, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a blue velvet case with a strand of genuine pearls and gave them to Jenny. He had them all the time. He was just waiting for her to give up the dime store stuff so he could give her a genuine treasure.

Why "Ferolan Slythius"?

Ferolan Slythius is the name of my main character in a story set in Nidavellir. The name itself is made entirely by myself:

It's not based on any fictitious language: I put together different-sounding parts that I like and *poof!* Ferolan Slythius. So it's made totally out of phonetics. It's original.
Nidavellir, on the other hand, is an abomination of all the fantasy worlds I like. I took what I like and leave out what I don't. Sue me.

I drew a cartoony impression of the character, the reason is because I intend the story to be a "bedtime epic" - it's a children's storybook. Read "The Hobbit" if you want a clearer picture of what I'm talking about. I coloured the picture very nicely with Photoshop and a freaking mouse, but I lost that copy. What the hell. I guess I can make a colouring book instead.

At the same time, I'm also creating a more "mature" version of the story. This one is more believable. It has racism, sex, gore, explicit language... basically everything a movie needs to be censored and/or banned because of.

Ultimately, I want Nidavellir to be some sort of believable, action-adventure, role-playing computer game... but for now, I guess I've to hold on to my horses.

Here it is. So get out your colouring crayons and watercolour brushes, kids!

The tongue map is a mistranslation by Harvard psychologist Edward Boring of a German thesis that was written in 1901. It was disproved in 1974, but unforunately it continues to be published in textbooks today.

Even my brother's KBSM PMR textbook [ISBN 983-9482-07-6] (Science, Form 2, Volume 1 page 10) holds this myth as a fact!

The truth is: sensitivity to all tastes occurs across the whole tongue and to other regions of the mouth where there are taste buds.
